Area Teachers Build Robots at Training Workshop

By Beth Boehne

(WSBT) Some area teachers are back in the classroom this week, but they're not teaching. They're learning.

Indiana's Department of Workforce Development and Ivy Tech are hosting teacher training workshops. This this the second year for them.

The teachers get some hands on experience by putting a small robot together.

"They are building the basic robot design that comes with the kit," explained Luke Ward, a visual communications instructor at Ivy Tech. "It's called the 'Squarebot' and it is just a basic driving robot to get them used to what's in the kit."

The kit contains about 500 pieces which the teacher gets to keep at the end of the workshop.
