Cove Home to Baptisms Sunday Instead of Baseballs

By WSBT News1

(WSBT) Sunday Coveleski Stadium was full — but it wasn't for a baseball game.

More than 400 people were baptized by Granger Community Church pastors at the Silverhawks' home. Each walked to one of six pools set up on the infield, then was baptized in front of a crowd of more than 2000 who were on hand to witness the event.

The church has held similar mass baptisms before, but never at the Cove.

Church leaders say it turned out to be the perfect location.

"Granger Community Church has just grown to a size to where it's very difficult for us to find a venue that can take on the amount of people that are attending and wanting to be baptized." said Shelley Arredondo. "And Coveleski was a great location for us. It's very close to our Monroe Circle Community Center. It just ended up being a great place!"

Church leaders hope to hold another mass baptism at the Cove next year.
