Update: Here are some snowfall numbers from area towns, according to Dave Hintz, a meteorologist at the Aberdeen National Weather Service station.
- Columbia: 6 inches.
- Claremont: 4 inches.
- Roscoe: 8 inches.
- Faulkton: 8 inches.
- Langford: 12.5 inches.
- Britton: 7 inches.
- Redfield: 5 inches.
- Tolstoy: 6 inches.
- Hoven: 8 inches.
Reported earlier:
Overnight, 8 inches of snow dropped onto Aberdeen, said a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Aberdeen.
While snow forecast predicted around 3 inches Monday afternoon, meteorologist Taylor Trogdon said a weather system developed and stayed over Aberdeen, resulting in heavier snowfall than anticipated.
There is a slight chance of snow this evening, he said.
As far as temperatures:
- Today: High of 27, low in the evening of 2
- Wednesday: High of 5, low in the evening of minus 18.
- Thursday: High of minus 9, low in the evening of minus 23.
- Friday: High of 15, low in the evening of 8.
Thursday will have winds from 10 to 15 mph, causing windchill temperatures to drop to minus 30-40.
The city of Aberdeen issued a snow removal alert Monday evening and is in the middle of a snow removal.
