INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A Purdue University professor says people should pay attention to the messages behind those ubiquitous beer commercials during the Super Bowl.

Assistant professor of health and kinesiology Adam Barry says alcohol ads can be misleading since they include taglines urging responsible drinking while at the same time promote more beer sales.

Barry says viewers get conflicting messages. He says public health experts should establish exactly what responsible drinking actually means.

Barry says behavior that young adults may consider drinking responsibly could be hazardous to their health. He says people often don't "know their limit" until it's too late, leading to problems such as drinking and driving.
