PETOSKEY, Mich. (AP) — A half-dozen resale and consignment shops that form northwest Lower Michigan's "resale trail" are saving money for consumers while generating sorely needed support for area charities.

The Petoskey News-Review says the stores offer infants' and kids' clothes for budget-minded moms, apparel for young job applicants and bargain furniture and appliances for homeowners.

The resale trail includes two Gold Mine shops in Petoskey that support the nonprofit Women's Resource Center, which provides a shelter for domestic violence victims, child care, counseling and other services for women and families.

Elsewhere, the Habitat Re-Store in Harbor Springs funds Habitat for Humanity; and Challenge Mountain resale shops in Petoskey and Boyne City, which support the nonprofit organization's adaptive recreation programs for physically impaired, mentally challenged and at-risk youth.
