Several diligent property owners tried to pay their taxes in person, but were turned away from the Penn Township Assessor’s Office in Mishawaka.

The assessor’s office is reminding taxpayers it can accept payments in person only between Nov. 30 and Dec. 11 at the County Services Building, 219 Lincolnway West, in Mishawaka.

Taxpayers can pay now if they either mail payments to the County-City Building, P.O. Box 4758, South Bend, IN 46634 or pay in person at the South Bend office, 227 W. Jefferson Blvd.

Payment details are also printed on the back of property tax bills.
