CASSOPOLIS — Former Cass County Prosecutor Scott Teter announced on Monday that he is running for district judge.

Teter, 45, is seeking to succeed Cass County 4th Judicial District Court Judge Paul Deats who plans to retire at the end of the year.

Teter joined the Cass County prosecutor’s office in 1992 as an assistant prosecutor.

In 1996 he became the county’s top prosecutor until he was tapped in 2003 by the Michigan Attorney General’s Office to run its child support division.

Teter has continued to live in Cass County with his wife and children while making the daily commute to Lansing.

The General Election for the six-year judgeship is Nov. 4.
