CASSOPOLIS — Dale Blunier, an Edwardsburg attorney, plans to run for Cass County judge in the 4th District.

Blunier, who regularly appears in court in defense of his clients, says he will formally enter the judgeship race on Feb. 26 during a 4 p.m. press conference at the old courthouse, 120 N. Broadway St.

Earlier this month, former Cass County Prosecutor Scott Teter announced his candidacy for judge in the fall election.

If another candidate enters the race, a three-person runoff primary will be held Aug. 5, said state election officials.

If only Blunier and Teter vie for the six-year post, voters will decide the winner in the general election on Nov. 4.

Longtime Cass County 4th Judicial District Court Judge Paul Deats is not seeking re-election. He plans to retire at the end of the year.
