SOUTH BEND — WSBT News has learned former President Bill Clinton and his daughter Chelsea will be in South Bend on Monday.

The chairman of the St. Joseph County Democratic Party has confirmed
the former president and his daughter will campaign in South Bend for presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., during appearances at the West Side Democratic and Civic Club and the Elks Lodge No. 298.

Monday is Dyngus Day — a big political day, especially for the Democratic Party. It's seen as the unofficial start of the political season. And the West Side Democratic Club has been the place for Democrats to rally, especially on Dyngus Day.

It's not a big place, and there will obviously be a lot of people wanting to attend. WSBT asked a local party leader why they didn't move the event to a larger venue.

"When you look back at the history of it, I think the significance of being at the West Side Democratic Club, the original home of Dyngus Day, and the fact that we did do this 40 years ago with Bobby Kennedy, the historic value of this is so very important to all of us and the flavor of Dyngus Day Solidarity Day," said Debbie Ladyga-Block. "That's where we go. Those are the places that we're also at, and I think it's the significance and the historic value."

The event at the West Side Democratic Club begins at 11:30 a.m. and the event at the Elks Lodge begins at 12:45 p.m. Clinton will then head to Rochester Community High School for a 3:15 p.m. "Solutions for America" rally that is open to the public. He will also appear in Logansport and Lafayette Monday evening.

Morgan also said the Obama campaign will be sending a "well-known representative" on Monday.

President Clinton campaigned earlier this week in Lawrenceburg, Anderson and Fort Wayne. Hillary Clinton also visited Indiana earlier this week, and Barack Obama was in Indiana last Saturday.

I find it hard to support a party that does not let selct states participate in selecting there own candidate, epecially when the unemployment percentages are so high in Michigan. That dosen't seem to quite fair. The candidates need to be held accountable to that state, not ignored.

Ok this has gone on long enough---too many people aren't honest with their partners. But I guess by the way the below statement was worded--I guess its ok IF NO ONE knows about it!?! PLEASE! All people are ONLY human!! Surprise--huh?

Dean; sounds like you need a different church if only a handful are faithful to their spouse. I think your the one not being honest here. If the other politicians are doing it they aren't broadcasting it and then lying about it.

All you guys crack me up! You don't think that more than half (dems and reps) all mess around on their partners!?! If you think they are all faithful then you better go crawl back up under your rock once again! You are also kidding me that you think that George Sr. was a good president too?!! OMG! These remarks are sooo funny! They actually make me laugh! I go to church every Sunday and I bet you could count on one hand all the true christans that are faithful to their partners. Be honest!

Is Bill in the above picture trying to look like Ted Kennedy? At first that is who I thought it was.

I can't beleive how you people are gullible enough to think Bill was a good president. He rode on what Bush Sr. already had I motion, then left W. to clean up his crap that he had going. Then there's Hillary (billery) claiming experience to be president because her husband was; are you kidding me? Then my wife can be an engineer because I am, yeah right. These two deserve each other and should go back the Arkansas; oh that's right they don't want them back.

Visit Clinton's Library sometime and you can see the wonderful accomplishments had during Bill's time in office. W's had not one as good. This country and many other's have been ripped to shred's due to his ineptitude. I'd rather listen to what Bill thinks then think about the damage Bush (who didn't really win either election) has done. Bill is judged by one personal action, not by all the great deeds he's done for the people. http://home.att.net/~jrhsc/jobwelldone.html

All the haters can hate but i would rather see Pres. Bill Clinton who knew what it was like to have less and worked hardto get where he is unlike Pres. Bush who was feed with a silver spoon and didn't have to work a day in his life except to destroy this country. Well Pres. Bush did help drug companies, oil companies, credit companies as our gas, food and health care go up so does their bottom line. So, yes i would rather like to see Pres. Clinton than Pres. Bush.

Is the Democratic party going to pay for extra police and city expenses for this trip like they demanded when other politicians have visited.? WHO PAYS? Us again, the taxpyers with our uncapped property taxes and extra sales tax thanks to our Democratic Rep Bauer?

ALTHOUGH I AM NOT SURE I CAN FULLY SUPPORT HIS WIFE FOR PRESIDENT, IT WILL BE NICE TO SEE A PRESIDENT IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT OVERSAW 8 YEARS OF WEALTH AND PROSPERITY IN OUR GREAT NATION RATHER THAN ONE WHO SQUANDERED AWAY THAT WEALTH AND PROSPERITY IN THE SAME TIME PERIOD OF 8 YEARS!!

Bill Clinton was one the best presidents this counrty has ever had! Some of these people need to wake up and get out of their rocks and SMELL the coffee that Bush has served us all! I would and will be proud to listen to President Clinton! Hopefully either Hillary or Obama will be able to pull this country back out of debt and get us back on the right track! Maybe they will be able to bring the gas prices back down and really SEE that our country is in real trouble! Mccain is way too old!!

Wow, a real President coming to South Bend. When Dubya comes by, it's not the same. He just, well, doesn't seem like a "President". You feel gypped of the experience of having a President visit when it's Dubya.
