Indiana's May 6 presidential primary is generating a lot of interest this year.

That's because of the still undecided race for the Democratic nomination.

Catalino Jacinto of South Bend wants to know, "How do you vote in a primary, is there anything special one would need to do?"

If you have never voted in an Indiana primary, it's not complicated. You will simply be asked to declare whether you want to vote Republican or Democrat.

So you will only be voting in either all Republican races or all Democrat races.

Under Indiana rules you must have a photo ID to vote — a drivers license, or something issued by the state or federal government. That ID can actually be expired, but the expiration date can be no earlier than November of 2006.

The deadline to register to vote is rapidly approaching. You can do it in person at the BMV through Saturday.

If you're registering by mail, your forms must be postmarked before 5 p.m. Monday night.

If it happens later than that you won't get registered to vote.
