KNOX — Mayor Rick Chambers has been issued a subpoena to appear before a grand jury Wednesday to testify into alleged voter fraud and perjury, he said Monday in a news release.

Chambers said many voters also were subpoenaed, and this is a continuation of the complaint and civil suit filed by former mayor Dennis Estok after losing the 2007 primary election by 15 votes.

In 2007, election results were upheld. Another complaint was filed with the Indiana attorney general’s office that resulted in no charges being filed.

"I stand on my reputation as a former police chief and as your mayor," Chambers said in the news release. "I look forward to cooperating with any investigation that brings closure to this matter."
