The Vital Records Office at the Indiana State Department of Health will be open Primary Election Day, May 6, in order to help people get the identification they need to vote.

The office will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. for people who need to get birth certificates in order to get identification from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Indiana residents need identification with a picture in order to vote.

All full-service license branches will be open from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Primary Election Day and from 8:30 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, the day before the primary.

The branches are normally closed on Mondays.

For more information about ordering birth certificates, go to the Indiana State Department of Health Web site at www.statehealth.in.gov and click on Birth and Death Certificates. Or call (317) 234-3267.
