INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jill Long Thompson says Indiana isn't capitalizing on its potential to produce energy — and jobs — by tapping into wind and solar power.

Long Thompson said Wednesday in announcing her green jobs initiative that Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels isn't doing enough to bring green jobs to the state.

She says her plan would bring thousands of new jobs to Indiana.

Long Thompson wants to spend half of $35 million in a state fund for high-tech research on startup renewable energy companies and other environmentally friendly businesses.

She also would create a Clean Energy Fund to sink $10 million every year into new clean energy technology and renewable energy projects.
