Election Day is just over a month away and the latest poll shows a tight race. But so far you're not seeing much of the Democratic challenger for Indiana governor.

Karen Garman of Wolcottville asked a Good Question: Why haven't we seen any campaign commercials for Jill Long Thompson in this area?

Turn on the TV and there's a good chance you'll see a campaign commercial for Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels.

But at least in South Bend so far that's not the case for Daniels’ opponent Jill Long Thompson. Her campaign says ads will start running "very soon" but wouldn't say specifically when.

Long Thompson is already running ads in Indianapolis, Evansville, Terre Haute and Louisville. Her campaign says that's because the southern part of the state doesn't know her as well.

But money is clearly a factor — Daniels has much more of it. As of mid-summer Daniels had raised over $7 million, Long Thompson about $2 million.

That's allowing the Daniels campaign to stay on air from Easter straight through Election Day.

Later this month we should learn more about where the campaigns stand on fundraising. The latest three-month fundraising period just ended and the reports are due by October 15.

Both campaigns declined to give numbers on how much money they've raised over the last three months.
