FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate John McCain is coming to Michigan Tuesday.

State GOP Chairman Saul Anuzis says McCain will visit Detroit Edison's Fermi 2 nuclear power plant. It's in Monroe County's Frenchtown Township, near Monroe and about 30 miles south-southwest of Detroit.

The Arizona senator has been promoting nuclear power to help lessen U.S. dependence on foreign oil.

McCain's visit will follow Monday's campaign stop in Lansing by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

The rivals have made numerous campaign stops in Michigan this summer. Their campaigns had spent about $6 million combined airing ads in Michigan through late July.
