Poll: Obama apparently leading McCain in Michigan

DETROIT (AP) — A new poll shows Democrat Barack Obama apparently leading Republican John McCain in Michigan.

The Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday of 1,364 likely Michigan voters conducted Sept. 14 to Sunday showed Obama with 48 percent, McCain with 44 percent, 7 percent undecided and 1 percent for another candidate.

The telephone poll conducted by the Hamden, Conn. school in partnership with The Wall Street Journal and the Web site of The Washington Post has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 2.7 percentage points.

A Quinnipiac poll of 1,684 likely Michigan voters conducted July 14-22 showed Obama apparently leading McCain 46 percent to 42 percent. That poll's margin of sampling error was plus or minus 2.4 percentage points.
