A Martinsville murder suspect apologized on Facebook and reportedly turned himself into police after shooting and killing his longtime girlfriend Monday.
According to police, 32-year-old Addam Foster called 911 just before 1 p.m. Monday, and said that he had shot someone. When police arrived at Foster's duplex in Martinsville they found 24-year-old Melissa Moore dead in the bedroom. Officers took Foster into custody without incident.
The couple's 14-month-old baby girl was inside the duplex at the time. She was uninjured. The child is now in the care of grandparents.
Longtime friend Brittani Brewer said Moore and Foster had been dating for a long time but recently separated.
"They had split up about a week ago," Brewer said. "They were having some issues and I think he wanted to try to make things work, but I just think she was finally over it after five years."
Not only did Foster reportedly admit to the shooting shortly after, Brewer found a post on his Facebook page just minutes before the shooting. It read: "Too all this affects I am sorry. Sorry is not ever going to help but none the less I'm sorry."
¿"It was premeditated and he trapped her,"¿ Brewer said in response to the post. "It was someone's life that he was just playing around with and now there's this little girl who's not going to have a parent."
Addam Foster is charged with murder and is in custody at the Morgan County jail.
The Morgan County coroner said Moore died of an apparent gunshot wound. A full autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
