A Noblesville man was transported to Methodist Hospital Wednesday after he was apparently shot in the chest during a hunting trip with his brother.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources said the Brian Irion, 35, and his brother, 55-year-old David Irion, were turkey hunting in the Morgan-Monroe State Forest when David shot Brian in the chest with a 12 gauge shotgun.
The victim’s brother called 911. Due to their remote location, emergency responders took several hours to locate the hunters.
DNR said Brian was alert and speaking and was flown to the hospital on a medical helicopter at approximately 2 p.m.
He is listed in stable condition.
The case was turned over to the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office for review to determine if any charges should be filed.
