The Indiana Senate passed a bill Thursday that would support statewide inspections of outdoor stage equipment.
The bill passed with a 41-5 vote and is now headed to Gov. Mitch Daniels for his signature.
The legislation is in response to the Indiana State Fair stage collapse that killed seven people and injured several others.
The proposed law would require concert promoters to prove engineers or architects have inspected their stages for safety.
