LELAND, Mich.—
A young girl from the Traverse City area died from meningitis.
Leland Public School officials confirm that 12 year-old Alexandra Romeo passed away.
She contracted a rare form of meningitis a couple of weeks ago, after coming down with an ear infection.
She died on Sunday at Devos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids.
School officials are planning a memorial service for her on Monday.
