ST. JOSEPH CO. — It's a bumpy ride for local drivers, but a stretch of Douglas Road should get better soon.

Jon from Osceola has a Good Question: Is a repaving project on Douglas Road between Bittersweet and Ash in the works for this year?

As WSBT's Kirk Mason found out, the county is fixing some of that road; but not all.

For many who drive on Douglas every day, these days it's not their favorite road.

“I had seven hubcaps in my yard in two days last fall, and three of them matched, so I'm certain they came off the same vehicle,” said Chuck Souders, who lives off Douglas Road.

The St. Joseph County Engineering Department says relief is on the way for at least part of the road.

Repaving of Douglas is about to start but not from Bittersweet to Ash. It's actually about a mile stretch from Beech to Ash roads.

Exactly how long it will take is not clear, but county engineering says the work has to be done before the cold weather arrives. That's some relief for frustrated drivers.

“I would hope they would do it soon ... I hope,” Souders said.

In St. Joseph County paving season runs from March through November.
