It's the way many drivers choose to go to get from South Bend to Mishawaka. But right now it's not an option.

Carole Gurney of South Bend wants to know, "How long is Edison at Ironwood going to be closed and what are they doing?"

A big pile of dirt and a "Road Blocked" sign are the signal to drivers that for now they must go a different way.

A stretch of Edison Road is closed right now just east of Ironwood Drive while South Bend does sewer work.

The good news is Edison will re-open soon. Gary Gilot, Director of South Bend Public Works, expects the work to be done by Thursday night or Friday morning.

NOW I see that you updated your original Monday night answer. I was pleased, originally, to know that the intersection would re-open Tuesday or Wednesday and wondered WHY, as the week progressed, it was still closed. Okay, so the SB Public Works director later changed his estimate -- but when I headed out this morning (Friday), the intersection was STILL closed. And throughout the week most of the small streets just below that stretch of Edison and eastwards are now ALSO closed-same project?
