Tents have been set up near McKinley Highway and Capital Avenue in Mishawaka in preparation for a Halloween event called "Legend Park." (WSBT photo) MISHAWAKA — Drivers at a busy local intersection are seeing tents and lots of them. Multimedia Robert Bogol of Mishawaka and several other viewers have a Good Question: "What is the purpose of all these tents and what are they going to be used for?" WSBT found out that it's in preparation for Halloween. One of our viewers called it "tent city." There have been a lot of tents set up near McKinley Highway and Capital Avenue. It's the land where the old Wicks Lumber Yard used to be. Owner Rick Singleton calls it "Legend Park," and even thought it's August he's already thinking about Halloween. "This Halloween event is going to happen at Legend Park right here in Michiana," Singleton explained. "It will happen this fall, late September. It's going to be a huge event for families, for people of all ages. It should be absolutely wonderful." The tents are up now as they plan for the fall event. “We're going to need lots of tents for this event," Singleton said. "We're testing tents today and for the next couple of weeks to qualify both the quality and quantity of the tents." St. Joseph County Commissioner Mark Dobson says the land is already zoned to be used for this Halloween event.
