SOUTH BEND — Some road construction on the south side of South Bend is going to take longer than first thought.

Adam from North Liberty has a Good Question: "What are they doing at the intersection of Miami and Ireland?"

In the words of South Bend City Engineer Carl Literel, they're "cleaning up" the intersection. Miami and Ireland is getting a facelift — better sidewalks, curbs and they're removing an island.

The city had hoped to have this work done already, but a water valve broke. And they're now checking other older valves to make sure there are no more problems. That's because if one more valve breaks, some customers could lose water service.

The city now expects the intersection to be done by the end of next week.

The city engineer says the project's contractor may face fines for not getting the work done on schedule.

those things all we want & the bookstores & art & crafts places just don't care what we want. If you want books, etc. so bad drive out to Grape Road, not our ga, not our problem. Well, guess what kids? I'll be buying everything I need from those kinds of places on the internet, so you won't be getting my money.
