Some Indiana homeowners are still waiting on their first property tax bill of the year. Those bills normally would have been due in the spring.

Vickie Myers of Syracuse wants to know, "When will Elkhart County send out property tax bills?"

If you live in Elkhart County you know you're still waiting on your first property tax bill of the year — the one that would normally be due in the spring.

That means taxpayers are likely to have two property tax bills to pay in a short period of time.

County Treasurer Larry Ernst says the now required yearly reassessments of property values have slowed their work, along with a change in computer software.

Ernst is hopeful to have the first bill mailed out in late September. If that happens one bill would be due in October, the next in November.
