A story we did last week about the US Census Bureau hiring in Niles generated quite a response from you at home.

Cory Reinhardt of Goshen had a Good Question: "Is the Census Bureau just hiring in Berrien County?"

WSBT's Kirk Mason found out.

Last week a crowd showed up at a Niles church looking for work. The US Census Bureau is looking for people to get a head count in local communities for the 2010 Census.

At this event in Niles, word from the Bureau came that more than 50 jobs, paying up to $18/hour, would become available.

And this is not just happening in Berrien County.

The Census Bureau either already is or will be looking for workers in counties across our area. You must work at least 20 hours a week, and you can work up to 40.

Much of the canvassing of homes and apartments will start in April, and will last for a couple of months. Then there will be another even larger canvassing effort during the summer of 2010.
