SOUTH BEND — Satellite and Internet technology are changing the way so many of us get directions.

Pam Kruger of South Bend lives in a newer subdivision and she wants to know how long it will be before her home's address is on GPS.

WSBT's Kirk Mason has an answer.

Has a friend or relative coming from out of town gotten lost while trying to find your home? Does your address not come up on GPS satellite technology? If that's the case you can do something about it.

We can solve this problem by bringing together two types of technology. If you don't like the accuracy of your GPS map, then turn to another map on the Internet.

A Google search will provide you with several options. One is a program called Map Insight from a company called Tele Atlas.

A company spokesperson says they rely on thousands of sources for their mapping information. That includes government data, satellite images and insight from millions of GPS users.

In other words, when you notice something wrong, report it — that's how it gets fixed.
