A road construction project that started last year isn't finished, and a lot of local drivers are frustrated.

Mike Powell of South Bend has a Good Question: "Is South Bend going to do anything about the road construction by Colfax and Eddy?"

WSBT's Kirk Mason has the latest on when the work is supposed to wrap up.

In an April where we dealt with snow, this may be an alarming statement — When the widening of Eddy Street will be finished depends a lot on the weather.

The work also includes new curbs, sidewalks and the building of an intersection. City engineers say the project is supposed to be finished May 15. That, however, is if weather permits. On April 6, the first day work was supposed to resume after a long winter break, it snowed.

City leaders say Brooks Construction can face fines of up to $1500 a day if the work is not done by May 15, but that date is not firm because of the weather.

Crews have also started work again on the Ironwood/McKinley project. We're told that should be finished by the end of June.
