GRANGER — If you live in Granger, your commute to and from work may have been a little tricky Tuesday, and some of you may have even wound up with a ticket.

A viewer asked a Good Question: How long will Bittersweet and Cleveland be closed?

WSBT's Kirk Mason has the answer.

Roundabouts like the one at Douglas and Twyckenham just north of Notre Dame are becoming more and more common around St. Joseph County.

The latest one to be built is creating some inconvenience for drivers the rest of this summer.

St. Joseph County engineers plan to have the Cleveland Road and Bittersweet Road intersection closed for the next 75 days.

On day one police were busy writing tickets to drivers still trying to get through the intersection even though it's closed.

“Well I think it could work, I think it could speed things up a little bit, sure,” one driver told WSBT News. Moments later he was stopped by police for going through the closed intersection.

Beyond the new roundabout, St. Joseph County is also building two new bridges in that area.

County Engineer Andy Hayes says 80 percent of the project is federally funded.

Drivers can take a detour from Ash Road to Lincoln Way to Capital Avenue.

Weather permitting, the intersection should be open by late September.
