There is no escaping delays because of road construction these days. But what about delays when those projects appear to be finished?

One viewer asked a Good Question: “Why hasn’t the speed limit been raised on the Bypass now that a repaving project is finished?”

The speed limit was lowered from 65 to 45 between Michigan Street and U.S. 20 in St. Joseph County. Crews repaved all lanes of the highway in that area.

And while the road looks finished, the Indiana Department of Transportation says it's not. INDOT is still waiting for a final inspection of the new pavement.

A spokesperson says the speed limit will remain lower until that is finished, in case they need to go back and do more work. She does, however, expect that inspection to happen in the next week or two.
