LAMBERTVILLE, Mich. (AP) — A 25-year-old Blissfield man is standing tall in his effort to make people aware of cerebral palsy.

Neil Sauter started walking Monday on 3-foot-high aluminum stilts from Lambertville in southeast Michigan to the western end of the Upper Peninsula to raise $10,000 for United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan.

The Detroit Free Press reports Sauter plans to cover 830 miles along highways and back country roads over eight weeks. The Daily Telegram in Adrian and the Grand Haven Tribune report Sauter will make appearances at schools, businesses and community organizations along the way.

Sauter has a mild form of cerebral palsy in his legs. It causes tightness in his calves.
