fruit salsa & chips

Fruit salsa and home made cinnamon and sugar chips are a very healthy alternative to some snacks kids eat today.

GRANGER — It can be very difficult to watch what you eat if you have kids. Things like fruit snacks, sugary cereals and macaroni and cheese aren't the best options for any healthy eating program, including WSBT's Why Weight? challenge.

There are foods you can keep in the house that are healthier for everyone. Tiffany Mosso, owner of Let's Go Bananas, demonstrated how to make fruit salsa, tortilla chips and chicken on a stick. For details on how to make both snacks, watch the video link above.

Let's Go Bananas is a children’s based culinary store and cooking class center in Granger.

WSBT First Thing in the Morning's Kirk Mason, Cari Peugeot and Kelli Cheatham are at the end of Week 11 in their 12 week Medical Weight Loss Program. Together, the three have lost more than 45 pounds.

Tune in Friday May 2 to see who wins the weight loss competition.

See more about the program in the Why Weight section of our website.

MOST SMOKERS I KNOW ARE ALSO RUDE PEOPLE IN GENERAL. (YES I ONCE WAS ONE BUT I STILL RESPECTED THOSE AROUND ME WHO DID NOT)

Yes, I smoked for 20 or so years before I quit about 5 years ago. Despite not being able to quit, I was still able to avoid smoking in front of children. I saw some kid the other day in a wheel chair, with all sorts of tubes, his parents were BOTH smoking right next to him... the kid was gagging! People got to do right by their kids.

Excuse me 'Congrats', you ever been a nico-fiend? I have. I tried for years to quiut smoking. I smoked all through my wifes prgnancies and up until the youngest was 9 years old. He was a born premature with resperatory complications and even though they tried to be as kind as they could, the doctors made it clear my smoking agitated the situation if not caused it. Imagine how proud I was. More like ashamed, and self loathing because I wasn't able to quit. I finally did, better later than never.

I have eliminated much of the junk from my families diet. In addition, parents should avoid smoking in front of their kids. It's pretty sad to see a nico-fiend puffing away with their kids in the back seat. If you don't have respect for yourself, respect your kids!
