BRAWLEY — More than 300 guests took a virtual trip to Las Vegas on Saturday night with gaming entertainment, a silent auction, gourmet buffet, cocktails and fabulous prizes while only traveling to the nearby Stockmen’s Club. Hosted by Donors of Valley Endeavors, Monte Carlo Night is a yearly casino night fundraiser that deals a full deck. All proceeds will help benefit women’s and children’s charities of the Imperial Valley, and has been for the past 26 years.
DOVES St. Patrick’s “Emerald Isle” event began at 7 p.m. and cheers of happy gamblers could be heard until 11 p.m., when the 27 grand prizes were awarded to the lucky ticket holders. More than 120 donated prizes were given away throughout the evening and featured a range of prizes including a diamond and emerald necklace, vacation in Mexico, tickets to National Finals Rodeo, tickets to professional baseball games, beach cruiser bikes, beauty and spa packages, a 55-inch flat-screen TV, as well as a multitude of gift certificates and baskets of goodies. The big winner of the evening walked away with an eight-pound investment bar of .999 pure silver, valued at more than $4,000.
Though many sponsors and ticket holders won prizes and had a fun night, the real winners will be the many charities that DOVES support. The event was open to the public — and to anyone ready to shuffle cards and roll the dice for a meaningful cause. A silent auction for additional fundraising was also held. A final tally for money raised has not yet been completed, but past events have typically brought in more than $50,000.
