EL CENTRO - A reporting party notified the El Centro Police Department of a group of gangsters who were allegedly camping out of a park, according to police logs.

The reporting party was described as irate and reportedly advised the dispatcher that he and his friend were going to kill the gangsters if the police did not address the situation.

After the call was dropped, the reporting party called back and said if the suspects were not out of the park by Saturday night, they would be dead, according to the logs.

Officers responded to the location of the calls and spoke to the mother of the subject who said the subject no longer lived at the location.



Transient exposes himself to passing vehicles

BRAWLEY - A male transient was allegedly exposing himself to vehicles driving on Austin Road near Brawley, according to Imperial County sheriff’s logs.

Upon arrival, deputies asked the subject how he was doing and he stated he was not feeling well, according to the logs.

The subject was said to have requested an ambulance due to eating random items from the trash including snake and bugs, according to the logs.

The reporting party did not wish to file charges against the transient and requested the subject leave the area, according to the logs.

Horse patrol in west county nets 15 undocumented immigrants

OCOTILLO - U.S. Border Patrol agents on horse patrol stopped a human-smuggling attempt and arrested 15 people illegally in the country Sunday night, according to a press release.

Agents assigned to the El Centro Sector Horse Patrol Unit saw a green Chevrolet Tahoe driving north across the international boundary with its lights out around 7 p.m. As agents neared the vehicle, the car stopped and a large group of people scattered throughout the desert.

The vehicle was seized, and 15 people including 14 men and one woman, all Mexican nationals, were arrested and remain in Border Patrol custody.

Woman offers candy to children

EL CENTRO - An older woman allegedly offered candy to children and invited them to her home only to be confronted by the children’s mother Sunday evening.

According to El Centro police call logs, the woman supposedly invited children to her home where she had “pasta and candy,” and said, “We can have a party.”

The mother reported the incident around 7 p.m. She later detained the woman, who was described as being between 50 to 60 years old.

The mother then reportedly handcuffed the woman, according to the logs.

Once contacted by officers later that evening, both parties were advised to stay away from each other.
