MILTON, Mass. -- A man on a bloody rampage stabbed his 17 year old sister and beheaded his five year old sister in what police are calling a "killing field."
It happened in a wealthy suburb of Boston on Saturday, the day after the five year old girl's birthday.
Police say the man, identified as 23 year old Kirby Revelus, turned to his 9 year old sister after the beheading and threatened her with a knife. He was then shot and killed by officers, police said.
The children's parents were not home at the time of the attack.
It happened about 24 hours after Revelus had gotten into a fistfight with a man living next door.
Police say five year old Bianca was killed as her birthday cake sat on the kitchen table. Nine year old Sarafina dialed 911 and watched police shoot her brother as her 17 year old sister, Samantha, lay dead on the floor, police said.
Sarafina is hospitalized with defensive wounds to her hands and stab wounds to her abdomen and one of her legs, police said.
Revelus had recently served jail time on a gun charge. The police chief says officers had been called to the family's house in 2004 after a report that Revelus had punched a woman living there.
Officials say the family had lived in the neighborhood for more than 20 years and were of Haitian descent.
