Plymouth residents prepare for the start of another Blueberry Festival

2008 Blueberry Festival in Plymouth (WSBT photo)

By Beth Boehne

There’s nothing like an outdoor party. Festivals are like big outdoor parties with lots of folks and a variety of things for all the senses.

When it comes to entertainment, there’s no better bang for the buck than a festival in Michigan or Indiana.

You’ll want to check out the main acts at the state fairs. This year, it’ll be worth a trip to Indianapolis Aug. 7-23 to see performers coming from as far away as Australia.

Some of the featured performers will be Kelly Clarkson on Aug. 14, Keith Urban with Jason Aldean on Aug. 15 and Journey with Heart on Aug. 16.

Be sure to check the dates of your favorite festivals. Some annual events have pushed forward the dates for this year’s festivals.

For example, the Sunburst will hit the ground running on June 6, while the Marshall County Blueberry Festival won’t get stomping until Sept. 4-7 and the Bremen Holy Walk will take place Dec. 18 and 19, just to name a few.

Other festivals have pushed their dates back — way back — such as the St. Joseph County 4-H Fair, which will be held this year July 3-11.

Remember, call ahead or check Web sites for information and updates. Some Web sites were not yet running at the time of publication. Check Web sites closer to the date of the event for further details.
