Description of Suspects Released in Berrien Teachers Credit Union Robbery

By Beth Boehne

(SBT24/7News) Authorities have released descriptions of three of the four men who reportedly robbed the Berrien Teachers Credit Union branch in Niles Township Thursday morning.

Credit Union employees were caught off guard as three of the men rushed into the credit union about 9:44 a.m. and ordered them to the floor at gunpoint, the Berrien County Sheriff's Department reported. No one was injured.

The fourth man was outside waiting in a stolen vehicle and the men escaped with an unknown amount of cash, police said.

The car, which had been reported stolen earlier that day to Mishawaka police, was recovered abandoned a short distance away near Lawndale and 14th Street.

One man was described as wearing all black clothing and had his sweatshirt hood pulled up over his head. Another man was wearing red pants with a white stripe down the middle and a light colored hooded sweatshirt. The third man was wearing all black with a pink scarf over his face.

The Michigan State Police post in Niles and the FBI are assisting in the investigation.

Anyone with information can contact the sheriff's department at (269) 983-7141.
