(WSBT) A handful of supporters held a candlelight vigil Tuesday night for a former Plymouth High School basketball coach.

The "Committee to Reinstate Michael Edison" met in Plymouth. Members say they've gathered more than 500 signatures in support of Edison.

He resigned last week after admitting he used his school computer to look at pornographic Web sites.

Supporters say they'll continue the fight until Edison tells them to stop.

"We just feel like everybody needs to have a second chance," explained Angela Rice, who signed the petition. "He was born and raised here. He's part of the community. Let's not just send him out in the cold. Let's help him."

"He came public. He apologized. We need to forgive him and pray for him," said Les Trump, who attended the vigil.

Calls to Edison Tuesday night were not returned.

Supporters plan to present their petition to the school board Thursday.
