(AP/WSBT) A state agency will help find jobs and train people put out of work by a tornado that damaged hundreds of homes and businesses in Elkhart County last week.

A team from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development's WorkOne office is expected in Nappanee on Friday, Mayor Larry Thompson said.

WorkOne will help workers write resumes, assess their skills and help them search for job openings, said Sherry Szmanda, vice president of policy and regulatory affairs for the group. It also will help spouses and other relatives of people whose jobs were lost.

Thompson said the city about 20 miles southeast of South Bend also is expected to find out as early as next week whether it qualifies for federal disaster aid for damages from last Thursday's storm.
