(SBT24/7News) A Mishawaka man is scheduled to be arraigned Friday on two counts of child solicitation.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit and the St. Joseph County Warrants Division arrested Kevin Meehan, 31, of Mishawaka on Thursday on the counts, both of which are Class C felonies.

The arrest followed issuance of a warrant Thursday in St. Joseph Superior Court.

The prosecutor’s office said an undercover officer with the High Tech Crimes Unit was contacted by Meehan over the Internet in January of this year.

The officer portrayed a 13-year-old girl, and the suspect allegedly began a series of sexually graphic conversations spanning a long period of time. After several months of chatting, officers from the High Tech Crime Unit executed a search warrant on the suspect’s computer.

Charges were filed against the man Wednesday based on the online conversations, and a warrant was issued in St. Joseph Superior Court.

The suspect is held on bond of $3,000 cash or $30,000 surety. He faces a sentence of two to eight years for each count, with an advisory sentence of four years. His arraignment is scheduled at 1 p.m. today Nov. 16 in St. Joseph Superior Court.
