(WSBT) Many local families in need won't go hungry this holiday. The Sister Maura Brannick Health Center kicked off their annual Thanksgiving Day basket program Monday morning.

The baskets were given to clients of the health center and include enough items to make it through the holiday weekend.

"We have pumpkin pie and cranberry sauce and vegetables and there's noodles and pasta sauce and spaghetti noodles and just a variety of things to kind of tie them over just for the weekend so they'll have a nice Thanksgiving weekend," explained volunteer Rosie Braunsdorf.

This is the ninth year for the Thanksgiving basket program. They also provide baskets during Christmas and Easter.

For donation information, contact the clinic at (574) 239-5255.
