(SBT24/7News) Lawyers for Conn-Selmer Inc. and United Auto Workers Local 364 sat down Tuesday in front of a National Labor Relations Board hearing officer to sort out the results of a decertification election.

Union members have been on strike outside Conn-Selmer’s Vincent Bach plant in Elkhart since April 1, 2006.

A Nov. 7 vote was held to determine whether the UAW would continue to represent workers at the plant. About 144 ballots are disputed, having been challenged by either the company or the union.

The results of this week’s hearing — expected to last two or three days — will become a recommendation to the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, D.C.

The board, then, will decide the ultimate fate of the strike based on that recommendation.
