One person is dead and another injured after a plane registered out of South Bend crashed in East Bay Township on its way to Traverse City, Mich.

According to investigators, two people were on board.

The pilot, Yatish Joshi, 51, from South Bend, is in critical condition. Friends tell us his wife, Louise Addicott, died in the crash. The plane was registered to Yatish Air LLC in South Bend.

So far, investigators don't know what caused the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration says visibility at the time of the crash was good.

The preliminary FAA report didn't list any mechanical problems with the plane.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating, but says it will take time because there was no black box on the plane.

WSBT News has confirmed Yatish Joshi and Louise Addicott are the parents of Georgiana Joshi, who died in a plane crash in 2006.

Georgiana was a student at IU and was flying a plane on its way to Bloomington when it crashed.

Family friends say it's hard to believe this could happen again.

"Those two were the closest couple you could ever imagine. They were so close. Well, the whole family was so close that (sighs)...," said Ron Burns, the family's flight instructor.

I have had the pleasure of working with both Yatish and Louise. My thoughts and prayers go out to their family. Louise was a warm and intelligent human being. She will be greatly missed.

So unfortunate that I'm completely speechless. Also unfortunate that no FDR/FVR wasn't onboard...its tools like them that help in preventing future occurences or at least lessening the impact of such occurences in the future.

Such a wonderful couple, they used to be the most generous and the most loving each other people I have ever met. I can't believe it happened. God bless.

Avatar lived on the same dorm floor our freshman year at IU. Even though we have only known one another for one year, I can honestly say that he is one of the most precious beings I have ever met. The Joshi family will be in my prayers.
