Injured kitten "Eeyore"

By Beth Boehne

KENT COUNTY, Mich. (AP) A 3-month-old kitten has undergone surgery and is on medication after both of its ears were cut off.

The Grand Rapids Press reports in a Friday story that the stray was found December 19 near Kent City in Kent County.

It also had suffered a hernia and nose injury.

Humane Society officials say its ears had been cut by a sharp blade, and the kitten also had been hit or kicked.

Staff have named it "Eeyore."

Humane Society director Karen Terpstra tells the newspaper that authorities hope to identify a suspect in the case.

That kitten is now on the mend and she's also found a home. A volunteer stepped up to adopt little Eeyore.
