PLYMOUTH — One of the hardest hit spots by flooding is Plymouth. Water there is believed to have leveled off.

School was canceled Friday, and Friday morning the mayor held a news conference to update everyone on the situation.

The worst of flooding appears to have occurred early Thursday. Officials say that should begin to improve soon but that it will take time.

There is still no one that has checked into the Red Cross shelter. People who have left their homes are staying in hotels or with relatives.

So far 45 homes and businesses have had at least some part of their utilities shut off. It may still be some time before all the utilities can be restored.

"The city of Plymouth requests that residents be patient. To turn the utilities back on will be up to NIPSCO and the city water department. They will be developing guidelines and inspections before any of that can take place,” said Plymouth Mayor Mark Sentor.

Officials really can't set a timetable yet for when everything will be back to normal. It will all depend on how fast the water recedes.

They hope next week things will look much better.
