By Tiffany Griffin

WINAMAC, Ind. — In the aftermath of massive flooding in northern Indiana, the American Red Cross is opening a disaster application center Tuesday in this Pulaski County town.

The center will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Church of the Heartland, 890 E. Indiana 14.

The center will provide information and an opportunity for victims of flooding in Pulaski County to apply for Red Cross assistance. Residents are asked to bring identification and proof of residency. Emergency assistance is provided on a case-by-case basis, depending on needs and the amount of damage sustained.

To date, nearly 150 people have stayed in Red Cross shelters in Indiana. Red Cross mental and physical health workers have reached out to nearly 250 people to offer crisis counseling and health services.
