CASS COUNTY — Police call him a serial robber, and it looks like he may have struck again. They arrested John Moore in a string of home break-ins across Cass County.

Police say they received an anonymous tip linking Moore to the break-ins. He was arrested after a police chase in Edwardsburg.

“He’s probably one of the most prolific single robbers — burglars — we’ve had in Cass County in the last 10 or 15 years,” said Captain Lyndon Parrish of the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

More than 18 homes across Cass County were recently robbed. Police say after putting the trailer where Moore lived under surveillance, they found a variety of stolen items.

“This guy, he took it all — electronics, guns, jewelry, minor things — just whatever he thought he could sell quickly,” said Parrish.

But this isn't the first time Moore's been in trouble with the law. Police say years ago his arrest helped solve some 40 burglaries in Cass and Elkhart counties.

Moore had even made a crime prevention tape for police to use.

“He had changed some of his tactics, but they're pretty much similar to what burglars look for — a house left alone during the daytime with no alarms or alarm systems, and no dogs around,” explained Parrish.

In fact, police say Moore would drive around until he found a house he liked. He would then knock on the door, and if someone answered he would leave. Otherwise Moore would break in.

Moore has pleaded not guilty and will be back in court on Friday.

Because he's a habitual offender, the Cass County prosecutor says he could face stricter sentences.

He also faces charges for not reporting as a sex offender in Michigan.

Put him in jail and throw the key away. Obviously, he is a career criminal. Better yet, send him to Irag.

Please do your homework before you print a headline. There is a significant difference between a Robbery and a Burglary...

At least Capt. Parrish knows the difference between a burglar and a robber. You guys write for the Tribune on the side don't you?
