TERRE HAUTE — Indiana State University students will return to their dorm rooms Monday after fire broke out in a high rise dormitory. Witnesses say an unattended candle caught a bed on fire and set an 11th floor room ablaze.

It happened just after 9:30 Sunday night in Blumberg Hall on the Indiana State campus. 420 students had to be evacuated to the student union to spend the night while rescuers and fire crews investigated.

Four people were treated for smoke inhalation including one residential assistant. Investigators say the fire started in a room on the 11th floor and spread to a room on the 12th.

Why has LITTLE to NOTHING been said about the fact that the fire suppression equipment on this floor was faulty, and if it had worked, the fire would've been much smaller? It seems that there is a serious safety issue that has been uncovered, and the media is largely ignoring it.

My sister attends ISU, we got a phone call from her saying her dormitory was on fire. After all this was done People from the 6th flore and down could go back to their rooms. but from the 7th floor and up they had to find some where else to stay. But my sister had said that she had to be escorted into her room (9th floor) so she could get stuff for the night.! That is what i have found out.But thank you for finding more on this story!!!
