A law enforcement source Wednesday told the Chicago Tribune that a possible suspect has been arrested in connection with the Tinley Park slayings, the newspaper reports on its Web site.

A man who closely resembles the police sketch of the gunman who killed five women, including Jennifer Bishop of South Bend, on Feb. 2 at a Lane Bryant store in the southwest suburb was picked up early Wednesday morning by the U.S. Marshal's fugitive task force and turned over to the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, the source said.

The suspect was wanted on a parole violation warrant, the Tribune reported. When investigators pulled his photograph, they noticed a close resemblance to the sketch in the Tinley Park slayings, the source said.

The suspect was arrested in a house in Chicago, believed to be on the South Side. The suspect tried to hide but did not aggressively resist arrest, the source said.

The Tinley Park Police Department continues to deny a suspect has been arrested. In a release to the media, Commander Rick Bruno insisted "no one has been arrested, nor do we have suspects at this time."

He stressed that they are still asking the public to use a hotline to call in tips: (708) 444-5394.

However, in a subsequent release late Wednesday afternoon, Cmdr. Bruno said, "We can confirm that the U.S. Marshal’s office picked up an individual on an unrelated warrant. That person was not turned over to the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force or to the Tinley Park Police Department. However, we consider the information a lead, and treat it as we treat all the other leads that are being pursued."

I also heard that the police are now denying finding the "suspect." Hope that's not true. What this animal did to these people is terrible. I hope he gets the worse punishment possible.

Bill: "If this is the scum that committed these acts of murder, and he is convicted, he deserves all the punishment he can get." --- Basing the system on punishment, instead of justice, is why scum can roam the streets. If my loved one were a vic. I'd want to know that at least justice would be done, that the perp would be put away, not merely processed in and out of the system until they finally slaughter people.

They probably have a suspect but they are waiting for DNA confirmation. Meanwhile they can keep him on the parole violation.
