Tinley Park Police Department released updated sketch of Lane Bryant gunman

The Tinley Park Police Department released an updated sketch of the suspected gunman who shot five women to death in a Lane Bryant store on Feb. 2, 2008.

TINLEY PARK, Ill. — It's been 16 days since Jeni Bishop of South Bend was murdered while shopping at a Lane Bryant clothing store in suburban Chicago, one of five women shot execution-style. Only one survived.

And despite more than 600 tips called in to police, detectives say they haven't identified the killer.

"So far we have not been called by the person or persons who know who we are looking for," said Tinley Park Police Commander Rick Bruno at a news conference Monday. "Somebody knows who this man is. Somebody knows what he looked like on February 2. Somebody knows where he is now and we need that person to call us."

Standing beside police Monday were dozens of religious leaders from nearby communities who prayed for someone to come forward. They also prayed for the killer himself.

"We break, Father, the bondage of violence that's in this man's life," prayed Pastor Ron Wilson of Full Gospel Christian Assembly International Church. "We come against every pitfall and everything that has hindered this man from coming forth and the family that may be holding himself back that he may be able to say, 'Let me give myself up.'"

Police released a more detailed sketch of the suspect over the weekend. They are asking anyone who knows anything about this man to call them — and not to think about it as getting their friend or relative in trouble — but to think of it as potentially saving lives. Police say they firmly believe this man would not hesitate before killing again.
